Position: Sustainability and Climate Consultant (Intermediate)

Location: Remote (with a need to be locally available in Calgary or BC for client meetings)

Type: Flexible (Contract or Full-Time Employment)

What’s the Opportunity?

We are seeking a motivated and experienced Sustainability and Climate Consultant with 8+ years of experience to lead and deliver projects in sustainability, ESG, and climate sectors. The ideal candidate will develop strategic frameworks, engage clients and communities, facilitate discussions, and write comprehensive reports, all under the guidance of our Senior Strategist. We value team members who bring a critical mind to exploring new approaches and a willingness to jump in and own their role in projects. This position has the potential to be a partner track position.

The Sustainability Strategist will be responsible for:

  • Confidently leading sustainability, ESG, and climate projects including project management and delivery
  • Development of sustainability strategies and frameworks including leading workshops and strategic sessions
  • Interested party and public engagement
  • Analysis and report writing
  • Best practices research and marketing support
  • Engaging in business development utilizing existing networks within Calgary or BC
  • Working closely with leadership to drive business growth and play an influential role in our evolution
  • Other responsibilities as they arise

Relevant Skills and Experience:

We are looking for a team member who is motivated to grow with our consultancy. Ideal candidates will likely have a combination of the following interests, skills and experiences:

  • Deep knowledge of sustainability, climate mitigation and adaptation, and ESG strategy and reporting.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, facilitation, and communication skills.
  • Effective time management skills with the ability to function in a high volume, challenging environment.
  • Analytical thinking and strong report writing.
  • Proficient in using graphic design software to create impactful presentations and reports.Proven track record in project delivery and client management.
  • Highly self motivated with an entrepreneurial spirit and a strong desire to contribute to business growth.

Potential Qualifications:

 

  • University degree related to sustainability, ESG, climate strategy or planning.
  • Experience with TCFD, CDP, GRI, UN SDGs or SASB is considered an asset.
  • Certificate in engagement, facilitation or conflict resolution is considered an asset.

Compensation and Benefits:

  •  

  • Salary Range: $90,000 - $110,000 per year for a 40-hour work week.
  • Flexible benefits package
  • 3 weeks vacation in the first year, with potential for an additional day off each month upon meeting monthly targets.
  • Unlimited sick days and a flexible schedule around core working hours (10 AM-12 PM and 1 PM-3 PM).
